Abstract
The article presents the impact of digital technologies on the development of communication competence in students. The conclusions are supported by a pedagogical experiment on a sample of 266 students from 4 universities in the Republic of Moldova. The following were used as tools for organization and experimental analysis: the KOS-1 method, the parametric t-Student test and the non-parametric Mann-Whitney test. It has been found that the use of digital technologies in the process of developing communication competence in students increases the level of possession of this competence. Thus, digital technologies: facilitate and intensify communication, especially for shy, lonely and/or disabled individuals; maintain continuous interaction between interlocutors; amplifies collaboration; increases the motivation for human interaction; expands the area of communication; reduces prejudice; removes most communication barriers; contributes to the simplification of language; increases the speed of sending and receiving messages; offers the option of free communication with the interlocutor through total individual control (initiation, maintenance, stopping); cultivate self-confidence; reduces communication failures.
