Abstract

Using the SolidWorks Simulation program, the stress states of one-sided butt welded joints with a convex element and lack of penetration at the weld root are analyzed. It is established that the convexity of the weld increases the stress concentration caused by lack of penetration and increases the maximum stress in the joint. It is shown that for maximum unloading of the welded joint, it is necessary to completely remove the convexity of the weld seam and make a hole along the entire seam with a depth equal to the height of the lack of penetration.
