Abstract

The thermal oxidation of anodized titanium in a phosphate electrolyte was studied. At a constant temperature, the presence of anodic oxides decreased the thermal oxidation rate of titanium to an extent dependent on the thickness of the anodic oxide. An anodic oxide of constant thickness also decreased the oxidation rate of titanium during its thermal oxidation at various temperatures.
