Abstract

The paper provides experimental data demonstrating the positive effect which a graphite/chromium trioxide (CrO 3GIC) intercalation compound has on the cathodic performance of manganese dioxide in alkaline electrolyte. The increased cathode capacity of the mixed cathodes is explained in terms of the reduction reactions of CrO 3GIC. The galvanostatic and potentiodynamic curves are used to discuss the changes occurring in the structure of CrO 3GIC during discharge.
