Abstract

The article given is dedicated to the problem of using individual approach in teaching with the following analysis of interconnection of this approach and forming of competences. The characteristic of approaches of modern scientists to the definition of a “competence” is given, the structure of the foreign language competence is analyzed. The substantiation of importance in differentiation of competences on the basis of a hard/soft basis is given, the analysis of forming soft competences is observed, the role of using individual approach while forming soft foreign language competences is highlighted.
