The introduction of resistance to eyespot (Cercosporella herpotrichoides) fromAegilops ventricosatoTriticum aestivumis described. In the hybrids, amphiploids and in the amphiploid derivatives investigated, the eyespot resistance was apparently simply inherited. Furthermore, this character was controlled by a chromosome, or chromosomes of the D genome ofAe. ventricosaand thus could be introduced intoT. aestivumby recombination.
