Abstract
In 1878, Church Missionary Society entered Pakhoi for their missionary work. In April 1886, the Po Yan Hospital was set up in Pakhoi, and a Leper Settlement was established nearby in 1899. The modern western scientific nursing work was actively introduced, thus the work of nursing was professionalized, which improved the development of local society and the female emancipation, and a wealth of local nursing professionals were trained, the health career in Pakhoi was developed.
