Abstract

The National Education Policy, 2020, is a significant policy reform aimed at overhauling the education system in India. One of the key areas of focus of the policy is the reform of legal education in India. This paper seeks to analyze the implications of the National Education Policy, 2020, on legal education in India. The paper examines the various proposals put forth by the policy with respect to legal education, including the integration of legal education with other disciplines, the promotion of multidisciplinary approaches in legal education, and the emphasis on clinical legal education. The paper also evaluates the potential impact of these proposals on the quality of legal education in India and the employability of law graduates. The findings of this study suggest that the National Education Policy, 2020, has the potential to transform legal education in India and address some of the long-standing issues faced by law schools and law students in the country. However, the implementation of these proposals will require significant resources and the cooperation of all stakeholders in the legal education ecosystem.
