Abstract

The increasing frequency of disasters, combined with a variety of emerging hazards and patterns, exposes an ever-increasing number of people to disaster repercussions, resulting in greater damages and vulnerability around the world. The goal of this research is to find out the role of architecture, urban design, and development interventions to help in catastrophe recovery and management. The literature was examined in order to discover the many ways in which these disciplines complement one another and after analyses and synthesis various approaches and gaps were identified and summarized in the paper. Professionals in these sectors may play a significant role in disaster management, and as a result, disaster management and sustainable development must be approached collaboratively.
