Abstract
This study investigates strategic management in the private club industry; in particular, the impacts of perceived environmental uncertainty, outlook, and size on private clubs’ strategic planning in terms of thoroughness. Data were collected from club executives at 133 private clubs in three northeastern states. A structural equation model analysis suggested that perceived environmental uncertainty and outlook significantly impact effective planning, while club size does not. Implications for strategic planning by private clubs are provided and discussed.
