Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of social media use on the social behavior of children with intellectual disabilities in SLB Build Siwi and how social media is used. This research will be carried out at SLB Bina Siwi in 2023. This study used a qualitative research approach with descriptive methods using data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study were three mildly impaired female students, their parents, and a class teacher. The analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and inclusion. Based on the research results in the field, the behavior was mostly influenced by social media, resulting in children appearing closed, disobedient, difficult to admit mistakes, and lacking confidence. Because children already understand how to use social media, so much of their time is spent playing with gadgets. This is a warning to parents and teachers to supervise their children's activities and maintain so much social media installed. In addition to supervising it, parents also use social media with their children, and this aims to minimize the occurrence of excessive addiction.
