Abstract

Abstract Aim: The research was conducted descriptively using the SWOT analysis method to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on nursing. Material and method: The research was completed with 300 volunteers working in COVID intensive care units and clinics in a city hospital in Turkey. A survey form consisting of two parts, evaluating sociodemographic characteristics and SWOT categories, was used as a data collection tool in the study. Nurses who agreed to participate in the research and whose written permission/verbal consent was obtained were asked to fill out the questionnaire in the nurse's room, accompanied by the researcher, under the conditions permitted by the institution, taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic process and infection rules. The dataset was evaluated with the SPSS program. Results: In the research, when the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on nursing was evaluated according to SWOT analysis, 34% of the nurses had professional factors under the strengths category (21.7%); 81.7% had psychological factors under the weakness category (59%); It was determined that 29.3% identified occupational factors (19.3%) under the opportunity category and 79% identified occupational factors (64%) under the threat category (p
