Abstract
Changes in immigration policy could impact the American economy in terms of costs and benefits. More specifically, changes to immigration policy could impact the health care labor force, reducing the pipeline of health care workers coming to the United States. Such a disruption could have serious long-term consequences for the quality of health care in this country. This paper will explore the current and projected labor market in health care, the participation of foreign-born workers in health care industries, current policies that affect the immigration of health care workers, and what proposed policy changes might mean for health care delivery in the future.
