Abstract
In the digital age, “kidfluencers,” or child influencers, have emerged as significant figures in shaping the online experiences of children. This study explores their impact on the cultural identity of Kuwaiti middle school students, as perceived by their parents. Employing a quantitative research design, the researchers collected data via questionnaire from a random sample of 383 parents. The findings reveal the substantial perceived impact which kidfluencers have on various aspects of cultural identity for Kuwaiti middle school students. Notably, they have a significant effect on language acquisition, leading students to adopt non-Kuwaiti vocabulary and slang prevalent in online kidfluencer content. Additionally, kidfluencers affect moderate influences over cultural values, moral beliefs, national identity, and traditions amongst students. This study underscores the need for a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted powers which kidfluencers can wield, thus helping inform educational strategies and parental guidance for the online era.
