Abstract

The study examines internet use on teaching and research by academic staff in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. A total of 300 sets of questionnaire were distributed to the academic staff in the faculties of Engineering and Technology, Pure and Applied Sciences, and Environmental Science. A simple non-proportionate random sampling technique of ratio 1:6 were randomly selected from the 1,800 total population . 218 questionnaires were correctly filled and collected for data analysis; a 72.6% response rate was eventually used for data analysis. The study revealed that academic staff used internet services for research purposes but efforts should be intensified in the area of teaching and learning. E-mail and internet services are mostly used by the academic staff. The major constraints encountered were lack of internet search skills, power failure and lack of time. Suggestions were given to overcome the problems identified.
