Abstract

The initiation of sexual activity in adolescents at an early age could not only cause reproductive problems, such as unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, but also hinder the normal development of mental well-being. As puberty is an important stage of biological and psychological changes for teenagers, special attention needs to be paid to the psychological development of adolescents. This article focuses on how the sexual activities of teenagers impact mental development, and analyses it from behavioural, biological, social, and psychological perspectives. Besides, this paper suggests interventions at the family, community, and school levels to better help children with increasing the awareness of sexual education and psychological cognition.
