Abstract
The purpose of the proposed work is to study the ideological and aesthetic folklore and literary sources of the image of the national singer from the poetry of T. Shevchenko "Perebendya". To achieve this goal, we used the historical-biographical, comparative (comparison of poetry T. Shevchenko with the literary works of E. Hoffmann, A. Mickiewicz), hermeneutic and textological methods. In the literary critical reception for the first time the image of a crazy kobzar as a Jungian archetype is studied in the context of folklore and literary sources. This is the scientific novelty of the article.Conclusions. M. Laszlo-Kutsyuk is right, considering the character of Perebendi on Ukrainian folklore. But this image functions in folklore as a code, archetypal, and therefore reproduced by European Romantic writers.
