Abstract
On the basis of the idiolect, an attempt is made to find out how and to what extent the change of the linguistic environment affects the dialect speaker’s speech. The research focuses on the analysis of the idiolect of Maria Vilіura, a resident of the Lviv region who has been outside her dialect environment for a long time. The source material of the study is the texts of audio recordings of M. Viliura’s speech, recorded during 2010–2012. The informant’s spoken texts show the preservation of many phonetic and morphological dialectal features. In particular, the following: the uvularization, the use of the prototic consonant [г], dispalatalization of [p′], archaic forms of the dual number, preservation of ancient forms of numerals, pronouns, verbs, etc. M. Viliura’s reflections on her language and linguistic reality are analysed. The most common reflections are on the features of her dialect, the meaning of individual words, comparison of her dialect and someone else’s, and reflections on language. Keywords: dialect, idiolect, dialects of the Ukrainian language, South Volyn dialect, Dniester dialect, dialect text, oral history, language consciousness.
