Abstract
This article reviews archival documents and results from a large-scale excavation at the site of Qollmay, providing new insights into Inca huaca worship and the significance of this particular huaca in the Cusco region. Specifically, it examines the establishment of the Qollmay huaca, the activities conducted within it, and its destruction by Spanish clergy during an early anti-idolatry campaign. By detailing the Qollmay huaca, we gain a deeper understanding of the Inca state's investments in sacred sites and how these places were used to legitimize state rule.
