Abstract

Audio/video (A/V) systems are a unique feature of the healthcare simulation space compared with most other classroom or teaching environments. The proper use and maintenance of these systems require a specialized knowledge of the terminology, connections, and expected function of each system. No two simulation systems are the same, and broad concepts and understanding are important to begin using, fixing, or planning changes to a system within a center. Large management and integration services work well for many centers, providing turnkey and enterprise-level functions, but these may be cost prohibitive for smaller centers. In either case, healthcare simulation technology specialists may be called upon to troubleshoot, retrofit, or suggest a custom solution to allow communication and visualization of the simulated training environment to meet the education needs of a given program.
