Abstract

For the relativistic treatment of the hydrogen molecule the expression for the reducedBreit equation concerning the hydrogen molecule is given in the paper. Here, too, as in the atom problem, the relativistic correction terms give additive contributions to the non-relativistic value. The present paper deals from among the great number of correction terms occurring with the calculation of the relativistic correction terms of the kinetic energy. The calculation was carried out by the determination of the expectation values of the corresponding operators with theWang wave function using the values of the parameteres ofWang, α=1,17 andR=1,40 a.u. As a result the value of −38,1·10−4 ev was obtained for the sum of the three relativistic correction terms of the kinetic energy. This value was found to be about twice as large as the value obtained with the Hydrogenic wave function for the ground state of the helium atom.
