Abstract

Electrical safety in power distribution systems has been researched for many years. However the respond of human body to the electrical shock not understood well and need to research more. One cause of this safety is ground potential profile of the grounding systems, and this is depend on grounding configuration and resistivity of soil that grounding rod was lied. Touch voltage and step voltage contour can be predicted before to make the grounding installation, so the safety can also be predicted. In this paper will explain the result of experiment in the laboratory with simulation of parallel 3 rods grounding systems that is injected with variable frequency 0–200 KHz. The measuring systems using oscilloscope high frequency for detecting the voltage drop and phase angle if injected by 0.1 Ampere AC current. The voltage sensor is located at many depths under the ground surface than the result calculated with La Place formula for getting the gradient of electric field in the soil and profile of potential at many place in and on the ground surface. The results of this experiment are grounding impedance as a function of frequency, ground potential profile, electric field profile and contour of potential.
