Abstract

The electrical grounding systems is a part of elecctrical (circuit) power systems that have the importance role for safety and protection. Without any indication of the value of grounding impedance in the electyrical power systems exactky, so the safety and protection can not be done well. Intill now many people think that the grounding systems is the simple problem and only burry the elctrode under the ground surface. But, in actually the grounding systems have the complex problem that it's depend on the the function of this grounding systems and the current frequencyb will inject to this grounding. Specially for high frequency of current that will be flown the grounding systems, like lightning current, so the grounding impedance have the varriation value. That depends on the condition of soil and the configuration type of this grounding. To know well the value of grounding impedance, we have to knowhow many Hertz of the dominant frequency will flow to the grounding systems. The diagnostics of the grounding impedance at high frequency have to be done for knowing well this value. Im grounding impedance, we have 2 (two) magnitudes that are impedance and phase angle. The phase type of the grounding impedance like in the power systems, are capacitive, resistive and inductive. In this diagnostics the grounding impedance will be measured with frequency variable from low frequency to high frequency (MHz). The result of this experiments will be ploteted at the impedance diagram that have the information of impedance value and phase angle. From this data if we want to reduce the impedance value, that can be done by the treatment of the soil or modification of grounding configurations. Before realitation of the grounding improvement, the new condition of grounding systems can be calculasted by the simple soft ware for grounding systems.
