Abstract
In the end of the 1960s numerous stone artifacts made of jasper were found in a field in the region of Müllheim/Baden in the Markgräfler Hügelland in Southwestern Germany. Among the findings are Font-Robert points, Gravette points, and microgravettes which allow an attribution to the Gravettian. Different test excavations were placed in the areas of artifact concentration. Since 2003 the Steinacker and surrounding fields have been surveyed by two amateurs who continue to find different stone artifacts. The different findings show good parallels to other Gravettian open sites in Germany and other surrounding countries. Within the context of the hitherto known Gravettian settlement of the South-western part of Germany this is the remotest and unfortunately less known site that was discovered in the Rhine area. The site of Feldberg “Steinacker” can be regarded as the most important Gravettien open air site of Baden-Württemberg.
