Abstract
The international market of fiberboard is the object of research. The subject of the study is trade and production relations in the global markets of medium-density (MDF) and high-density (HDF) fiberboard. The study is based on a comprehensive review of the production of these wood materials in various countries and an open FAO database. The purpose of the study is to identify current trends and the country structure of the global fiberboard market. The study was based on FAO open data and their statistical analysis using Python analytics tools. From 1995 to 2022, the volume of MDF and HDPE production increased by 1154.1 %, rising from 8.1 to 101.9 million cubic meters. In general, there is a constant increase in the production of these materials. The ten leading manufacturing countries account for 86 % of the total global production of MDF and HDPE. China holds a dominant position in this market with a 51.9 % share. The next most important are Turkey (6.43 %), Brazil (5.33 %) and Thailand (4.63 %). The market structure is characterized by significant heterogeneity. In 2022, Russia»s share in the global market was 3.44 %. About 20 % of all MDF and HDF produced in the world is exported, which in 2022 amounted to 20.6 %, which corresponds to 21.0 million cubic meters, with a tendency to increase. The maximum export volume was recorded in 2021 and amounted to 22.6 million cubic meters. The leaders in the export of MDF and HDPE are Thailand, China and Germany, which account for 38.9 % of all global supplies. russia, Turkey and Belarus also provide more than 5 % of global supplies. The United States accounts for 18.8 % of global consumption, and the top five importers (the United States, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Britain) account for 41.7 % of all global purchases.
