Abstract

ABSTRACT Like many university libraries today, the University of Eastern Michigan is dealing with numerous problems affecting its gifts and exchange programs. These include lack of adequate staff for processing, preservation issues, library/patron relations, IRS problems, exchange agreements, etc. This article traces the history of the gifts and exchange programs, examines some of the current problems and outlines steps taken to alleviate them.
