Abstract

Menisporopsis anisospora anam. sp. nov., found on decaying petiole of fallen leaves of Wettinia praemosa in a cloud forest in Venezuela, is described and illustrated. This is characterized by having heterosporous conidia (allantoid, fusiform, subsigmoid, sublunate, vermiform to irregular) with unequal sides, subtruncate or truncated at base, attenuate at apex, one-celled, hyaline with 2–4-setulae. Two other Menisporopsis species are recorded for the first time from Venezuela and a key to the described species is provided.
