Abstract

We present a genome assembly from an individual Agrostemma githago (the corn cockle; Tracheophyta; Magnoliopsida; Caryophyllales; Caryophyllaceae). The genome sequence has a total length of 1,735.0 megabases. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 24 chromosomal pseudomolecules suggesting the individual is a tetraploid (2n = 4x = 48). The organelle genomes have been assembled, and the length of the mitochondrial genome is 262.91 and the plastid genome 151.73 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 38,816 protein-coding genes.
