The general solution to an orthotropic infinite plate with a bent crack under an arbitrary anti-plane shear stress

Abstract

With the aid of the basic theorem of the Mellin transform, the general solution of a bent crack with finite lengths d and b in an orthotropic infinite plate subjected to an arbitrary longitudinal shear stress is obtained in this study. All of the results of the problem in the present paper are expressed in simply closed forms. Thus it can be seen that they are very useful for engineers. We can easily prove that the solution to a central crack in an infinite plate for mode III is one of the special cases of the general solution in this article, and that all of the results of a bent crack for K III are independent of elastic constants.
