Abstract

Film dosimetry is developed as a powerful tool for radiotherapy treatment verification and quality assurance. This project was done to study the response of Gafchromic EBT3® film for alpha particle detection. Gafchromic EBT3® film was exposed to alpha particle of energy 5.4 MeV from Am-241 source for different exposure time after one of the 125 μm polyester layer was removed. Then, the film was scanned with a flatbed scanner (Epson V700). From the results obtained, the maximum alpha particle absorbance was measured within the red light wavelength which was between 620 nm - 750 nm (alpha energy of 5.4 MeV). The absorbance also increased linearly with the exposure time. The exposure of film at different heights of pipe washer indicated that the film was energy dependent.
