Abstract
With the advent of HERA a new phase of deep inelastic scattering experiments has begun, the results of which are the main topic of this workshop. In this contribution the status and future perspectives of the scientific program of DESY are presented. They include the luminosity upgrade of HERA and the plans for an electron-positron linear collider, TESLA, with an integrated X-ray free electron laser.
