Abstract

To any complex polynomial f with constant term 1 we associate a special sequence by Newton’s identities in terms of the coefficients of f. This sequence constitutes the coefficients of the power series representation of . We prove the fundamental theorem of algebra by showing that this sequence does not converge to zero, or equivalently, is not an entire function.
