Abstract

This paper aims to clarify the framework of the image of places by analyzing the descriptions on sightseeing brochures of water towns in Japan, which are known for unique and abundant water resources. Firstly, the contents of attractions relating to water resources were extracted from the following aspects; Water Objects, Characteristics of Water Objects, and Related Objects. Secondly, combinations of Characteristics and Related Objects were considered. Finally, these results were further discussed in terms of the geographic properties of each town. Distinctive contents were found, which are linked to the topographical and climatic features of the water towns.
