Abstract

The online course is the core of the construction of distance educational and teaching resources, and it is the foundation to meet the needs of different levels and different types of learners. The optimisation of online courses’ quality is significant to realise educational equity, and to meet learners’ needs of autonomous learning. A four-stage evaluation model, which includes diagnostic evaluation, process evaluation, summative evaluation, and feedback evaluation, is proposed in this paper to guarantee the development and realisation of high quality online courses. This paper describes the components of the model and how the model has been successfully used in the construction of a sample course.
