Abstract

High-spin states in 202Bi populated in the (α, 5n) reaction were investigated by in-beam γ-ray and conversion electron spectroscopy. The 10 − state observed as isomeric with a half-life of 3.0 μs completes the systematics of the (v i 13 2 −1, π h 9 2 )10 − excitations in the doubly odd Bi isotopes. A sequence of high-spin states built on the 10 − level is observed with spins up to I = 19. Two additional isomers with half-lives of 310 ns and 2 ns are found at ~ 2.6 MeV. The higher states are suggested to result from the coupling of a h 9 2 proton to the known 201Pb excitations.
