Abstract

The Jadidist social-political movement, which emerged in Turkestan at the close of the 19th and the start of the 20th centuries, is covered in this article. The causes of the rise of Jadidism, the status of the early enlightenment movement within Jadidism, and recently established educational institutions are discussed. ‎
