Abstract
The paper analyzes the problems of Dagestan children's literature in the context of the adequacy of literary transla-tion, the main stages and trends in children's prose and poetry of the peoples of Dagestan. The author points to such aspects of the problem as: the lack of a unified ap-proach to the theory of translation, clear distinction be-tween adaptation and translation, the necessity of taking into consideration multilingualism and other features of the mentality.
