Abstract

The article discusses the role of the green frame of cities as an urban planning component of protection against environmental pollution. The analysis of the problems associated with the development and functioning of the industrial agglomeration - Severodonetsk, Lisichansk and Rubezhnoe leading to irreparable environmental consequences in the greening system, to a significant decrease in the percentage of forest cover of the territory. Lugansk region is located in the steppe zone of Ukraine, in the so-called ravine steppe, with an arid climate, frequent dust storms and dry winds, hot summers and frosty winters with little snow. Moreover, fires bring an additional negative impact on people and wildlife; only in the last year a third of the pine forests of artificial origin have been destroyed. Among the problems associated with the violation of the green frameworks are the following: the insufficient of urban areas greening, which does not comply with international standards; uneven degree of greening of urban areas; green spaces are usually concentrated in the central part and along water bodies; one third of the existing plantings require renovation, improvement or replacement with young trees.Measures for the rational use of the active elements of the green frame are presented, recommendations are given for the choice of tree and shrub species for urban greening, which are adapted to local climatic and soil conditions. It was noted that a comprehensive approach is needed to the concept of restoring the green frame of the city of Severodonetsk-Lisichansk agglomeration with a guarantee of adequate funding. Programs, concepts for designing cities, taking into account all the features of the geological and biological environment, should be the concern of not only ecologists, but also city planners as well.
