Abstract
Abstract This chapter looks at the potential impact of different styles of police research on police policy and practice. We say ‘potential’ in acknowledgement of the fact that policy changes are always brought about through a myriad of influences; it would take a brilliantly designed, lavishly funded, perfectly executed research project to assess accurately the actual impact of research on policy.
