Abstract
NATO is about to experience a period of (relative) calm, following a campaign in which victory of sorts has been wrested from Serbia in a contest over the short- to medium-term fate of Kosovo province and its inhabitants. During this restored period of relative calm, it can be expected that there will be a re-emergence of many of the tensions within the Atlantic alliance that had recently become submerged, as a result both of the drama of the war against Serbia and of the need to minimise alliance disunity during the course of that conflict.
