Abstract
The fluorescence line narrowing (FLN) and time resolved fluorescence line narrowing (TRFLN) of Sm 3+ ions in ZBLAN fluoride glass have been investigated. The fluorescence transitions 4 G 5 2 − 6 H 5 2 and 4 G 5 2 − 6 H 7 2 were detected as the wavelength of the exciting light was varied. The homogeneous broadened luminescence of 4 G 5 2 − 6 H 5 2 by resonant excitation has been recorded at temperatures as low as 100 K; a 2.5 cm −1 linewidth was measured at this temperature, and the delay-time dependence and temperature dependence of the spectral width were studied.
