Abstract

The article analyses the possibility of identifying the objects depicted on the first widespread drawings of church lands located on the territory of Ruza district, Moscow province based on the materials received from the Moscow eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church. The investigation showed that during the 17th century, due to the lack of the possibility of detection, one sixth of the church lands, information about which was contained in the documents, was lost. The systematized list and descriptions of the features of the drawings compiled in the course of the study made it possible to achieve confident identification of church lands lost in times close to the times of creating these cartographic materials, and the possibility of approximate location of the objects depicted on them when performing historical research today.
