Abstract
I want to share the excitement and amazement I felt when I learned about the role of radiation therapy in the first human heart transplant. For me, this story is a reminder to keep our eyes open to the world around us as we go about our daily lives, because unexpected gems of insight, interest, and wonder are waiting to be discovered if we are simply curious. When I learned that radiation therapy played a role in one of medicine's most dramatic milestones, it was such a thrill to me as a radiation oncologist.
