Abstract

Studying the problems of the modern Russian family, the author of the article pays attention to the traditions and experience of family education in the orthodox pedagogical culture. The status of the father in the hierarchy of the Russian orthodox family, where he was the head and the teacher, made him responsible for the spiritual and moral state of his household. For this reason the genre of the fathers will or the fathers teachings, through which fathers tried to convey to their children and to inspire them with the lofty Christian ideal of education, emerged in the orthodox pedagogical culture.
