Mark Maslan teaches English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is author of Whitman Possessed: Poetry, Sexuality, and Popular Authority (2001). He is currently writing a book tentatively titledFalse Lives: Biographical Fraud and Contemporary Fiction.
