Abstract

The effects were examined of pH, extractant concentration, metal concentration, sulphate concentration, and time and temperature of equilibration on the extraction of Cu(II) with Lix 64N in kerosene, toluene or xylene. Extraction was most efficient when kerosene was used as diluent. Examination of the extraction of Cu(II) and Fe(III) with Lix 64N and Versatic 911 in kerosene showed that for the range of concentrations studied the carboxylic acid produces no synergistic effect when mixed with Lix 64N, but does not impair the selectivity for copper over iron.
