Abstract

Objective Measure the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ(PPARγ) in the fat and planceta of gestational diabetes mellitus ( GDM ) , aim to explore the role of PPARγin pathophysiology of GDM .Methods Collect the fat and placenta tissues of GDM and normal pregnant woman .Real-time PCR and Western blot were used to measure the mRNA and protein of PPARγin the two pairs of tissues .Results Compared to the normal group , the expression of PPARγin fat was lower in GDM group , both mRNA ( P =0.0 1 4 ) and protein level ( P =0.0 2 4 ) were decreased nearly 4 0%.While in the placenta , the expression of PPARγwas higher in GDM group , the mRNA and pro-tein level ( P =0.0 0 2 ) increased 1.6-fold and 2.0-fold , respectively .Conclusion Our results sug-gested that PPARγdecreased in fat and increased in placenta of GDM cases , and PPARγmay participate in the pathophysiology of GDM .
