Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and significance of forkhead box protein M1 (FoxM1) and NIMA-related kinase 2 (Nek2) in kidney cancer tissues. Methods Fifty-six specimens through surgical removal of kidney cancer and adjacent tissues were randomly choosen. The specimens were diagnosed by pathology. The expression of FoxM1 and Nek2 wsd detected by immunoblotting in kidney cancer and adjacent tissues. Results The expression of FoxM1 protein in kidney cancer (1.16±0.25) was higher (t=39.083, P=0.000) than that in the adjacent group (0.26±0.08), the expression of Nek2 in kidney cancer (1.04±0.18) was higher (t=34.161, P=0.000) than that in the adjacent tissues (0.17±0.05), and the expression of FoxM1 and Nek2 in kidney cancer tissues was positively correlated (r=0.869, P=0.000). Conclusion FoxM1 and Nek2 were highly expressed in kidney cancer, and the expression of FoxM1 and Nek2 was positively correlated. FoxM1 and Nek2 could be beneficial to the diagnosis and prognosis of kidney cancer. Key words: Forkhead box protein M1; NIMA-related kinase 2; Kidney Cancer
