Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of microRNA (miR)-146a in colorectal cancer and colorectal polyps in patients. Methods The study was separated three groups as follow:49 colorectal cancer cases of patients; 37 cases of colorectal polyps patients; 30 healthy volunteers. And then Taqman real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) was used to detect the expression of miR-146a in the three groups' blood serum, and the expression of miR-146a after treatment.carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) was determinate by Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and different clinicopathological features of colorectal cancer group differences. Results The colorectal cancer miR-146a was 38.12 ± 3.56,higher than that of colorectal polyps group and control group, the difference was significant statistically (P < 0.05).The lymph node metastasis miR-146a expression levels with colorectal cancer were significantly higher than without lymph node metastasis (42.39 ± 5.49 vs.35.33 ± 6.19,P < 0.05),Dukes staging of C-D patients miR-146a expression levels higher than A-B patients (41.09 ±7.11 vs.36.17 ±0.61,P <0.05),no significant difference with different age groups and gender groups above. After treatment, the expression of miR-146a and CEA were (33.40 ± 2.98) μg/L and (5.32 ±0.48) μg/L,lower than before treatment (38.12 ±3.56) μg/L and (6.68 ±0.67) μg/L),the difference was significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion miR-146a was highly expressed in the serum of patients with colorectal cancer and decreased significantly after treatment. It might play a role in the incidence of colorectal cancer, colorectal cancer development.
