Abstract

Objective To investigate the indication, safety, and operational key point of laparoscopic repair of paraesophageal herni. Methods There were 12 patients in Wuhan Central Hospital from December 2009 to June 2014 underwent laparoscopic repair of paraesophageal hernia, 3 cases of them repaired with mesh and 9 cases of them without mesh. Results Laparoscopic repair of paraesophageal hernia was completed successfully in all 12 patients.The average operation time were 150(60-220)minutes and the blood loss were 35(15-100)ml.Postoperative oral feeding were resumed on 24-48 hours after operation, and no serious postoperative complication occurred.The median postoperative hospital stay were 8.5 days.Temporary dysphagia ocured in 3 cases and relived in two weeks. Conclusion Basing on the proper indication, laparoscopic repair of paraesophageal hernia was a mini-invasive, safe and effective surgical procedure.It is worth being further spreaded.
